Poor, stupid, constantly gaping Reynir just wanted to be cool like his big brothers and sisters. How he ended up in the crate is still unknown, we'll find out soon enough.
There'll be an info-page about the Dagrenning program at the end of this chapter, but I think you were able to figure out that it's a fertility donor program by the fact that Reynir's siblings are clearly not biologically related to him or his parents. And it was really fun drawing his family, we should meet them all properly sometime in the future of the story. Way, way in the future. :P
